PAKISTANI PAIR REPLACED BY DUMINY, LALOR
Sun, 8th, Sep 2019
The Barbados Tridents brought in replacements for the Pakistani pair, Wahab Riaz and Imad Wasim, who will miss the tournament due to national duties. The men who'll be replacing them are the South African all-rounder JP Duminy and Australian left-arm pacer Josh Lalor, both of whom would be making their CPL debut this season.
Duminy, a left-handed batsman and part-time off-spinner, is the seventh highest run scorer in T20I history and is South Africa's leading run-scorer in the format. He was a regular in the South African side in all three formats, especially in ODIs, playing 199 matches for South Africa and scoring over 5000 runs in the format, the tenth highest for South Africa in ODIs. The left-hander retired from international cricket post World Cup 2019, after representing South Africa in three editions of the Tournament.
Left-arm fast bowler Josh Lalor was drafted by the Tridents after he impressed in the Big Bash League 2018, picking up 20 wickets, the most for Brisbane Heat and the fourth highest in BBL 2018. His 5/26 against the Sydney Sixers was the best bowling figures by any bowler last BBL. Lalor also picked up the fourth Hat-trick of the BBL last year against the Perth Scorchers. His expertise with the new ball and ability to bowl pin-point yorkers at the death will be invaluable for the Tridents.
