WHO IS ALEX HALES & WHY IS HE FIRST PICK FOR TRIDENTS
Sun, 8th, Sep 2019
England Batting Superstar Alex Hales was the first pick for Barbados Tridents in the CPL Draft 2019. Speaking about the Barbados Tridents after the event, Hales said he was thrilled to be headed to one of his favourite places to play cricket.
Alex Hales' recent record at the T20 Blast for the Nottingham Outlaws is one of the many reasons the Tridents went all out for the English star. The right-handed top order batsman made his T20I debut for England in 2011, and since then he has been one of the most promising players in the format. Currently, he has the second most runs for an English player in T20Is.
Hales has a knack of scoring big scores in the limited overs format. In 2014, he became the first English player to score a T20I hundred, a feat he achieved in the 2014 World T20 against eventual champions Sri Lanka. His score of 116* is the third highest score by any T20I batsman.
He was able to replicate the same form in ODIs, bagging the man-of-the-match award in both games when England managed to score over 400.
The opener is in good knick at the moment, he scored four 50s for the Nottingham Outlaws in the T20 Blast this season. His tally of over 350 runs makes him the top run scorer for the team. He would be hoping to bring the same form into the CPL.
